Dr. Zachary Pharr received his degree in Biology with Chemistry and Psychology minors from Lipscomb University, while playing on the university golf team. He received his medical degree from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. There he served as an elected member of class leadership, graduated in the top of his class with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, and was selected by his peers to the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his compassionate care. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the historic Campbell Clinic where he served as a peer selected Chief Resident during his final year. For subspecialty training in Sports Medicine, he completed an additional fellowship at the world renowned American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama with Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, assisting with team orthopaedic coverage for the University of Alabama 2020-2021 National Champion football team.
Throughout his training in residency and fellowship, he has treated athletes at all levels from youth to professional sports, including the University of Memphis and University of Alabama athletic programs, Memphis Redbirds and Birmingham Barons minor league baseball teams, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies. Currently, he serves as the team physician for multiple high schools and colleges in the middle Tennessee area.
He has authored multiple journal articles, book chapters, and surgical videos, including multiple presentations throughout the country. He is passionate about Sports Medicine and is eager to be a team provider for our local athletes. Dr. Pharr’s primary focus will be Sports Medicine, including minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee, as well as UCL repair and reconstruction, also known as Tommy John surgery, for throwing athletes. In addition, he performs general orthopaedics, fracture care, and shoulder replacement.
In his spare time, Dr. Pharr enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, being involved locally in his church and community, exercising, playing golf, and participating in medical mission trips.
